Frequently Asked Question
General Questions
Online therapy (also called remote therapy or teletherapy) is professional counselling or psychotherapy delivered via secure video call. You meet with your therapist from wherever you’re comfortable — your home, a private room at work, or anywhere with a stable internet connection. The therapeutic process is the same as in-person therapy; only the delivery method is different.
Yes. A growing body of research shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and trauma. Many clients find it more accessible and easier to fit into their lives, which often leads to better engagement and outcomes.
Every therapist at Bloom Therapy is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). They hold at minimum a postgraduate diploma in counselling or psychotherapy, have significant clinical experience, and participate in regular supervision. You can verify any therapist’s registration on the BACP register.
The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) is the UK’s leading professional body for counselling and psychotherapy. BACP-registered therapists must meet rigorous training standards, adhere to a strict ethical framework, and engage in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision. It’s your assurance of quality and accountability.
Getting Started
It’s simple. Book a free, no-obligation consultation through our website. During this short call, we’ll learn about what you’re looking for and match you with a therapist who’s the right fit. If it feels right, you’ll book your first session and you’re on your way.
The consultation is a brief, informal conversation (usually 15–20 minutes) where we learn about your situation and what you’re hoping to get from therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions. There’s no pressure and no obligation to proceed
We’ll recommend a therapist based on your needs, preferences, and goals. If you have a specific preference (for example, a therapist with experience in a particular area, or a preference for gender), just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
The therapeutic relationship matters. If after a session or two you don’t feel the connection is right, let us know and we’ll help you switch to another therapist at no additional cost. There’s no awkwardness — finding the right match is part of the process.

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy and is protected by the BACP Ethical Framework. What you share with your therapist stays between you. There are rare, specific exceptions where a therapist may need to break confidentiality — for example, if there is an imminent risk of serious harm to you or someone else. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly at the start of your work together.
